Dennis Trainor Jr is a writer, producer, and multi-media storyteller covering justice, resistance, and the intersection between the arts and politics.
He was the creator, host, and producer of two nationally syndicated TV programs: Acronym TV and The Resistance Report, each produced as part of the Young Turks Network and distributed by Free Speech TV— a national, independent news network available in 40 million homes.
His documentary on the Occupy movement, American Autumn: an Occudoc, garnered critical praise from The New York Times, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and more. He also wrote and directed Legalize Democracy, a documentary short about the Movement To Amend the Constitution.
From January 2015- September 2015 he served as Communications Director for Jill Stein for President. He returned to the campaign as an independent contractor in July 2016-November 2016 to produce several TV commercials and dozens of short form videos for the campaign’s social media platforms.
Between 2007-2009, he published and appeared on camera under the alias “Davis Fleetwood” and while doing so was an embedded YouTube personality/media advisor on the staff of Dennis Kucinich’s 2008 presidential campaign, earning the historical footnote as the first video blogger to be hired by a Presidential Campaign.
Trainor’s training and original professional experience were in the theater. He holds an MFA in Acting from the American Conservatory Theatre, is a member of Actor’s Equity Association. Also a playwright, he has had two plays produced off-off Broadway: Plug and I Coulda Been A Kennedy. He is currently at work on a solo piece When We Were Capitalists (or Fuck You Gordon Gekko).
